It has come to my attention that there has been a relaxation of safety at the field. Dave Szabo has done a great job as safety officer but he can't be there all the time.
I know from experience that everyone feels that they know the other flyers and kind of feel out of place correcting them on certain procedures they have adopted, like:
taxing back into the pits, flying near or over the park main building, flying over the maintenance garages, not announcing takeoffs and landings, blatantly ignoring a call of "ON THE FIELD" and taking off or landing anyway.
To put it bluntly, you are your brother's keeper. look at it as protecting yourself. You could be the guy on the field when some other flyer decides to land and seriously injures you. You can be the person flying at the flight station when someone taxis into the pits and loose it into your legs.
safety rules are made for a reason "SAFETY"
Everyone should be placing their park permit in the frequency box when flying, I have noticed several times that the pin was not there and the slot was blank. there are a couple of reasons we did this;
1) so we know who has the pin.
2) so we know that person has a park permit.
Don't hesitate to ask the person flying to place his park permit into the slot.
Just remember it's your field. Be responsible.
until next time,
Keep'em Flyin'

Great reminder that when you become complacent things happen! Look at the Romans!
