Well, It's a beautiful Sunday and lots of guys ready to fly.  I wanted to test my new Katana fun fly for our up coming contest on August 2nd against the Union and Central Jersey Clubs.  Well, I unloaded the airplane with great anticipation because it's been a while since I flew a profile model and I didn't have much luck with my other one. I checked out the radio with a range check and noticed I had the airleron control backwords.  man oh man, I swore I checked this at least a half dozen times at home.  Again, another reason to range check your model every time you go to the field.  After the correction, I started up the engine, an OS 50SX.  lots of power.  I announced my intention for take off and as I tried to taxi to the flight line I noticed that my airplane was not going where I wanted it to go.  what the heck?  Well guess what? My rudder control was backwords.  Man what next?  I reversed the control and tried another takeoff.  At last!  The plane took off and what a pleasure to fly.  I was able to do flat spins, hover, waterfalls, knife edges and a few other things I didn't intend.  After landing, i adjusted the engine a little and up again.  What a pleasure to fly.

Bottom line, Always range check your plane before flying that day.  If I didn't range check the plane, I guarantee, I wouldn't have it today.
